New Year's Resolution

The past few months I've really been thinking about how I spend time as a mom. I had noticed that a bit part of the day was going to cleaning, cooking, laundry, etc.. I just love when my house is clean. It was almost becoming an obsession. I think out of all the things to be focused on, I picked a good one, but.... I couldn't be obsessed with cleaning and be the kind of mom I wanted to be. So one of my new years resolutions was to have a messier house :). To spend more time playing down on the floor with my children, doing field trips with them, and lots more cuddling. So far it is going well! I used to lay down with Jude for his nap to help him fall asleep and instead of enjoying the moment I was feeling anxious for him to fall asleep so I could get to the laundry, or whatever else needed to be done. Now I lay down with him and just enjoy the feeling of holding my son, and moments like those are what I imagine heaven must feel like. I am blessed with 3 beautiful children and so far the time is flying by so I better enjoy them while they're still little.

February

This month was a good month! We had some snow, Paul actually did a really good job on Valentine's day, and Jude ate a whole salad by himself for the first time :). We also did swimming lessons this month for Jude and Violet.
Jude was pretty freaked out the first 2 lessons, and then he started to have fun. Violet is always into it. Paul even heard her teacher say to the other kids, "look at how good Violet is, be more like her". The last day of lessons was a "play day" and the pool had rafts out and had turned on the water umbrella and the slide. Only one other girl showed up in Jude's class so he was able to do a lot with his teacher. Violet went down the water slide all by herself, which is a big deal for her, she's pretty timid. Jude was excited to show me he could float in the deep water with a life jacket on.

Violet and daddy went to a Valentine's dance together. They had a lot of fun. This is the second year in a row they have gone. I think it will be a tradition from now on. You can tell from the
pictures she's way more interested in the crafts than the dancing.

We had our second snow storm of the winter. We LOVE snow, and wished we got more of it.

January

Jude is now in primary. He made it in by about 8 hours :). He is doing well now. When I dropped him off he cried but I was told he was fine within 5 minutes. Violet is a CTR 4 girl. She is so good and loves going to primary. She loves to comfort Jude in sharing time if he ever gets a little upset. She also has memorized the first 3 articles of faith and we are working on the 4th.

We were so excited about the Duck's being in the national championship. We were pretty frustrated with the game (frickin slippery turf) and with the outcome. We were a little more sad than we thought we were gonna be when the game was over. We had to put a funny show to try to get ourselves out of the funk.

I hadn't realized how long it had been since I posted something. December was a good month. Both Paul and I were super busy with work and we love Christmastime. I love doing everything I can to add to the magic of Christmas for the kids. I love buying the presents, making the crafts, singing the songs, etc... I tried not to spoil the kids. They only got 2 presents each from Santa, some small presents in their stocking, and PJs on Christmas Eve from mommy and daddy. I was pretty proud of myself because it would be so easy to spoil them. They're such good kids and as a parent its so hard to resist buying them things you know they would love. But there's one quote from Dr. Phil I always remember from back in the day when we watched his show (I think we watched the first 3 to 4 seasons) and he would say "kids who have everything appreciate nothing." I grew up kind of poor. At the time we didn't realize how little we had but I now am glad to have grown up without very much. I don't want my kids to be spoiled and we did a pretty good job this year...... Although my dad spoiled Jude. Violet already has a Barbie power wheels jeep and he thought Jude ought to have his own power wheels so Christmas morning Jude got his very own power wheels 4 wheeler. He's a pro now.

Also we had Jude's 3rd birthday. Our camera was having issues, so a friend took some pictures for me and I still need to get them from her. He had a great time on his birthday. I was super tired out from Christmas stuff and I had worked a lot in December so I wasn't into having a big birthday party. We just had family over and it was nice and simple. Next year I'll throw him a big ol' bash.
I don't have too many pictures for January because of our camera issue. We'll see what I can find in the next couple of days and I'll be back to update that.

The beginning of this week Paul and I were able to get away kid free for 2 nights at the coast. The kiddos spent some time with their Nana and Papa. It was Cohen's first night away from mommy and daddy. We stayed at The Adobe Inn and loved it! Its so good for us to get away and just be Paul and Missy every once in a while. And I love the coast- well- I love to stay at the coast and look at the ocean from my cozy warm room. Its the same feeling as staring at a burning fire for me. Relaxing. We had a jacuzzi in our room, which we haven't had since our wedding night (which we accidentally filled too much and flooded the bathroom, so we never were able to use it). It was romantic. PRESCHOOL AND TOfW

This last week has been pretty easy going. I did have preschool at my house (Monday and Wednesday) and it went well. I was a little scared to join this group because teaching is not one of my talents. But since becoming a mother I have noticed I am really good at handling kids my own kids's age and younger. I think I just understand what to do with them now :). And we have really good kids in our class. They like to learn and they actually like following the rules. I didn't take any pictures this week, but here is one from September when I taught last time:

I had an amazing weekend. I went to the Timeout for Women in Portland and I had such a good time. I went with some great ladies. And I felt like I was prepared spiritually for it. Lately I've been doing some soul searching because of a few trials going on in my life. And I've been getting the same answers all from the recent Relief Society lessons, personal scriptures study and from this Time Out for Women (I'm going to be super hip and just write TOfW).
So here's my problem....or was my problem.... I truely thought money would bring happiness. Not in the I want a million dollars so I can buy what ever I want kind of happiness, but that we could pay off all our bills and debt and lack of money related stress-happiness. I kept thinking, one day we'll have them all taken care of, and I'll be so happy when that happens, far off in the future. And then I saw something about Charlie Sheen's big fiasco and I had an light bulb moment (kind of). These stars have all this money, they can buy anything they want, but look at them- they're doing drugs and other not good things, trying to find happiness but looking in all the wrong places. I intellectually always knew this truth, but something about this particular thought made me really feel it. And it made me even more grateful to be in my life. I am so blessed. I know it will bring some relief and peace when we do have all our debts paid off, but I don't have to bank my happiness on that. And that I am here to enjoy my life right now, not in some distant future.

Another problem I have is I'm always in pain. I always have a headache, a neck ache or a backache. I've had this going on even since my car accident in September of 2000. I've been trying to do the best I can to work on things to help, but its always there to some degree. And I will find myself thinking "Why can Heavenly Father just miraculously heal me? Why do I have to deal with this all the time?" It felt like I was being punished, so the result was I was really hard on myself. Every little weakness I had I was just beating myself up over it. I wasn't getting that weakness and sin were 2 totally different things. So I felt like I was stuck in the state of pain and stuck mentally and spiritually. And that I was lacking faith. Only recently have I really started to see my pain in a different light. That I have this pain so that I will rely on Heavenly Father daily. That maybe I wouldn't try to pray as much if I didn't have this pain. And at this TOfW there was a few presenters that talked about pain and suffering and how it can help purify us to become more like Christ and to realize just a bit of what he went through. Also that it might be the best way for me to learn what I'm supposed to learn and to become the person I'm supposed to be. And one thing a couple of the speakers said was "I know you always hear you will not be given more trials and sufferings than you can handle but I don't believe that. I believe you are given more that you can handle so that you will be humbled and rely on His grace." That was a light bulb moment for me too.
I learned a lot of other powerful things this weekend and really loved being in a place where the spirit was so incredibly strong. I have finish up though because my little ones are needing me.

I'm not sure how I feel about sharing this with the world, but I didn't get any comments on my last post, so maybe a lot of people won't see this anyways :).

NO WONDER I DON'T BLOG OFTEN, THIS TOOK ME ALMOST 2 HOURS! ENJOY!

Its been weighing on my mind lately to start this blog back up. My memory is horrible, and Paul has ADD so this is my best shot at remembering all the little and big things that happen in our lives. I don't have much of a need to vent. Usually when something is on my mind I phone my friend MaryLou and vent and that gets it out and I'm good. But I do need to keep a record our of family's history.

Cohen turned one! He is my little sweetie. I am amazed everyday at how smart that little guy is. He has only been on the earth a year and he knows what he wants- usually mama. I'll walk into the room and he will whine and wiggle until he somehow gets to me. And when he does he wants to give me kisses (open mouth :) and hugs and just a few days ago he said mama (where he knows what he's saying, not the mamamamamama.....). About a week after his birthday he started walking. I love the new walker stride. Its a little cowboy and a little tipsy :). So cute. He also LOVES his Papa Knight. Whenever he comes up to visit he books it across the room into papa's arms, and then he immediately lays his head on papa's shoulder.
Cohen also loves playing with his big sister and brother in their room. He loves to climb on their beds and plays with their toys.

My Violet is growing up fast. She is my little mama. She loves to help Cohen out. She likes to carry him around, play with him and talk to him in baby talk. She is such a good big sister.
She's also become my little cleaner. She's like Monica from Friends, no joke. She is that serious about it. She gets upset when her room gets messy. Sometimes she'll come to me and say, "mommy, come look" and she will have cleaned the living room all on her own. A few months ago I helped her clean her room and when we were done I said, "Violet, doesn't feel better when your room is clean?" and ever since then she's been a cleaning maniac. I think its so adorable. We also started a reward jar, so when she does a chore, she gets to drop a little plastic diamond in. And when its full she gets a toy, or a date with mom or dad, or a trip to Chuck E. Cheese's. She's already filled it once and decided it was time for a new backpack.

Jude is my busy little boy. He's showing signs of his daddy's ADD (or it may be that's how little boy's act). Today sitting in church Jude was wiggly and couldn't really sit still and quiet on Paul's lap and I said "you got a little you" and he said "yeah, really" and smiled. I don't mean to sound like I'm jumping quickly to label Jude, I'm just noticing little similarities between father and son. He is always my happy little boy. He loves his brother and loves to play and wrestle with him. He does get a little attitude (after all, he's 2!), and I sometimes can't help laughing when I tell him no, he says "I say yes!"
I've also started the potty talk with him. I tell him that babies wear diapers. And then I say "Are you a baby?" and he says "No!". And then I will tell him big boys go on the potty. And then I will ask him "Are you a big boy?" and he will say "No! My name's Jude!" I love it, so cute!

Cohen's 1st Birthday!
We threw him a party on his birthday for just family and he did not dig it. During the party Papa Knight was holding him and I took him to put him in his high chair to have his birthday cake. As soon as I took him away he started bawling and could not be consoled. He cried when we sang to him and even us sticking a big chunk of frosting in his mouth didn't cheer him up. He knew what he wanted- as soon as we gave him back to papa he was happy.

This morning I took all the kids in to the doctor's for their checkups at the same time because I'd have to bring them all anyways and I might as well get it all done at once. They did really good. And I still love seeing their percentiles so I'm going to post those and write about what they've been doing lately.

Violet:

Height: 38 " = 15th % Weight 31.4 lbs = 19th%

Violet is such a good sister- she was meant to be the oldest. She's so mature for her age. She's such a good listener and plays really well with Jude. She loves making Cohen laugh. She changes her clothes at least 5 times a day (seriously!) and sometimes she'll get up wearing different pajamas than the ones she went to bed in. Fashionista! She just had her 4th birthday and had so much fun! She had her little posse of friends at her party she was running around with and that helped her open her presents. Her favorite present was her Barbie bike from Papa Knight.

Jude

Height: 36 1/4"= 75th% Weight: 27.6 lbs = 34th% Head: 20" =90th%
My little Jude did is such a little boy. He's rough, he likes to pretend to be a monster, and he likes to play with any kind of ball. He loves his little brother but I always have to watch him because no matter how many times I try to explain it to him, he doesn't know how to be soft and gentle. When birthdays come around we always get the other kid a gift. So this year we got Jude a bubble lawn mower. He hasn't been able to do the bubbles because we've had some major rain storms here, but he pushes it all over the house. He loved it sooo much as you can see he pulled it into bed with him the night he got it. So cute! And at Violet's birthday party we keep losing Jude- he'd wonder out of the play area of the pizza place over to the arcade. He's his father's son :).

Height: 261/2"= 69th% Weight: 14.5 lbs= 12th% Head: 17 1/4"=63rd%

Cohen is such little sweetheart. He's such a good baby! He's 5 1/2 months old and he's growing fast! He now rolls over on to his belly when I put him down, even in his sleep. He's been really fussy and doing lots of grunting the last few days, especially yesterday and when I peeked into his cute little mouth I saw 2 teeth starting to break through his gums. This is really early compared to the other 2- they got their teeth at 8 or 9 months. He still won't take a bottle but we're going to start him on real foods, so I'll get a litte bit of a break.

One last thing. Jude is the funniest, goofiest boy. We took a family pic (minus sleeping Cohen) at Violet's party and each time Jude made the funniest faces. He's hilarious! Here's one of them:

Well, obviously I didn't keep up with my weekly thing. Our pictures wouldn't load up and I feel like they can show more of whats going on than anything I can write. Life is so good for us. The kids are growing too fast! Cohen is already 4 months! Here's a few pictures to show whats been going on the last couple of months:

The kids were pretty spoiled. We tried to be modest with what "Santa" bought them and it was a good thing because my dad and the rest of our families made up for it! It was good because we needed some more boy toys around here.

BABY COHEN COMING HOME
These are pictures of when we came home from the hospital. The kids weren't allowed to come to the hospital because of the swine flu, so this is when they met their new baby brother. This was one of the sweetest moments of my life. They were so excited and wanted to hold Cohen and give him lots of kisses. Even a month later they still are excited to hold him and love on him.

Cohen was born Friday afternoon at 4:36pm. He weighed 7 lbs 9 ozs and was 21 inches long. He is the sweetest little boy and his brother and sister can't get enough of him.

ITS ALMOST TIME!

Only 13 days left until our little baby boys due! From fear of having 3 children I have been more than happy to have this pregnancy take a long time. Its not that I didn't want to have this baby boy join our family, its just the thought of having 3 kids is an overwhelming thought. When I found out I was pregnant I said to myself, "I still have 9 long months to go, plenty of time to prepare myself". That attitude actually made the 9 months fly by. Now that I'm down to the last stretch and can't wait to get this little guy out of me it feels like everyday crawls by. My cervix are thinning and I'm having a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions, so hopefully that's a sign that things are getting ready. I actually have loved my last two experiences of giving birth so that's another reason I'm wanting to get this show on the road. We're not 100% sure about his name so we'll blog that when he gets here.

VIOLET & JUDE
My kids are the cutest. They are so good!

Violet just started preschool for 3 afternoons a week and loves it. She is in the same class as her cousin Jaxon. She's a really good sister, wanting to give her little brother kisses and hugs and show him how to do things. She's looking more and more like a little girl and less and less like a toddler.
Jude decided to crawl out of his crib last month so until a couple days ago he was sleeping in his playpen (shorter fall). Below is a picture of when Violet had crawled into his playpen to cuddle. Now that Jude is in a toddler bed half the time he crawls in bed with his sister. After we put the kids to bed we always hear Violet saying in her high pitched talking to a baby voice "Jude its okay, its time to sleep...". She's such a good big sis. Jude is also talking like crazy and always has a bruise from trying to jump off something or crawl up on something.

Last Saturday Paul and I decided at the last minute to take the kids up to OMSI. They both loved it! We both wanted to get out of town cause there's not tons to do around here when its raining. Here are some pictures:

On the way to OMSI we stopped to show Violet the temple. Paul explained to her that it was Jesus's house. Then Violet said "I want to go and see Jesus". How cute is that?

THANK YOU to everyone who has been saying prayers in my behalf! I'm now officially into my 7th week of pregnancy and I haven't had a bit of nausea (prayer works, who knew? j/k). Seriously, in my last 2 pregnancies the nausea started in my 6th to 7th week so I'm feeling super blessed. A couple of nights ago i had a little bit of bleeding and it scared me straight - I realized how much I now want this little baby. Luckily it stopped and I feel fine!

Updates on the kids:
Violet has been a really good girl. She's super into pretending. I hear her having little pretend conversations with different people when she's playing in her room alone. She's also a little monkey - wanting to climb on anything she can. And she is now officially going on the potty!
Jude is always a good little boy. He's always happy even when he's sick. Just last week he started signing for "food" and "all done." Its pretty dang cute. He's also walking like a pro. A couple of weeks ago he had his first haircut. I'll post pictures soon.

Happy Birthday Jude!
I can't believe he's already one! This year has passed by so fast! We have really enjoyed this baby boy of ours. He's so happy and he brightens each day. We are so blessed to have this little surprise! We love his so much!
Right now he is doing a lot of talking (we don't understand much except mamamama....). He is so fascinated by his sister and thinks everything she does is hilarious. He's standing on his own and has attempted to take a step, but just resorts to crawling. At the moment he is really a daddy's boy and loves to cuddle with him as much as possible. He loves to make friends everywhere we go. He refuses to drink out of a sippy cup, he's a bottle man! And he loves anything having to do with music - he loves it when people sing to him and when the radio's on he does a little squat and sways with the time of the music.

He had his doctor's appointment this morning and here is his stats...

Height: 30.75" = 80%
Weight: 20lbs = 12%
Head size: 18.50" = 69%

Last week the Jude dude had his 9 month appointment. Nothing too exciting, but I love seeing the percentiles. Here they are:

Height: 26 3/4" = 67%
Weight: 17 lbs 12 ozs = 10%
Head: 18" = 63%

I didn't expect him to be so low in the weight chart, he's taking after his sister. The head percentile surprised me. How dare he call himself a Campbell with such a small head! (I was greatful for that when I was pushing him out). He is crawling around and pulling himself up on furniture. He's also lifting his arms up when he wants you to hold him.

Violet is growing up so fast. She is talking like a little grown up and loves to play mommy with her little dollies. She goes to "play" school twice a week and loves it. She's a little daredevil, jumping off of everything she can.

Yesterday Paul and I were given tickets to the Utah - Oregon game. We had so much fun - minus the direct sun and the wasps that were flying all around us (I have a major fear of bees, so sitting there the whole game was a big triump to me). Paul's wonderful parents took our Violet and Jude Friday night and Saturday so we would be able to have a day to ourselves. It was a good game to go to since it was a guarantee win for us.

Today Jude had his 6 month check up (he's 7 months, we were a little late). I got the idea from Amy Andrus's blog to post his percentiles. Even though we were late with his appointment, they compare him to other 7 months old so they're accurate.
Here they are:

Height 27.75" - 75%
Weight 16 lbs 3 ozs - 14%
Head 18 inches - 86%

I'm not sure why I love finding out my children's percentiles, but its really fun for me. I guess staying home so much makes things a little more exciting than they really are. And I'm a nerd. So he's tall and slim and has a big ol' Campbell head. And like a Campbell boy, he was flirting with the doctor (don't worry, our doctor is a woman).
Jude is sitting on his own but is still a little unsteady. He's not crawling, I'm not sure what to call his style of moving around. Sliding? Anyways, he moves around. He's eating fruits, veggies, and rice cereal (and minute maid limeade pop-cycles). He smiles more than I've ever seen a baby smile and he hates to be alone. He laughs the most at his big sister. He is not sleeping through the night, sadly. And just yesterday his bottom teeth are showing through.

We are currently trying to sell our house. We have outgrown our house, mostly because of our two home businesses. Also we have remodeled this one and we are ready to move onto the next fixer- upper. The last time she had her kinky
Right before her shopping spree

Yesterday Violet made a major change in her life. We took her to Toys R Us and we told her she could pick out a toy, but she had to pay for it with her "kinky" (thats what she calls her pacifier). She said okay and was looking at all the toys. She looked at Barbies, princess stuff, kitchen play dishes, but when she saw a lawn mower on display, she ran, grabbed it, and started to push it around the store. After about 10 minutes of her mowing the Toys R Us aisle, it was clear to Paul and I that that is what she wanted. We showed her the more deluxe, bubble blowing version and there was no turning back. We took her up the cash register, a long with her toy and a small pool we decided to get her. We explained that she had to give the cashier her bag of kinkys in order to take her lawn mower home and she happily handed over her bag.
She has been doing really good without her kinky. We do have to explain what happened to it when she asks for it. And a couple of times she has asked for "baby brother's kinky", but we tell her he needs his kinky. We have been dreading doing this for so long, but it has been a lot better than we anticipated. But as long as we have babies in our family, their pacifiers will be called "kinkys".

I have a cute little story. Every night before we put Violet to bed we change her diaper, put on pjs, brush her teeth, say a prayer, sing some songs and I rock her in her chair. Last night Violet said the cutest little prayer. Daddy was saying it and she decided she wanted to join in and thank Heavenly Father for some things. She thanked Him for wipes (baby wipes), the couch, the remote, her stuffed cow, her purse, the one wipe sitting on our side table, the chair momma was sitting on, mama, baby brother...and she kept on looking around the room and naming everything she saw. It doesn't seem as funny now that I'm writing it, but Paul and I were trying so hard not to laugh. She has the right idea.

Okay, now I'm actually going to start this blog thing. We don't have too much of an exciting life, so I don't know how many updates there will be. Currently both Paul and I work, and in our spare time we are getting our house ready to go on the market. Just a few things left to do before we can put in up for sale. Violet just turned 2 and Jude is the happiest baby I have ever seen. Right now I need to put away groceries and start dinner, but I will post more pictures soon.
